HREFLANG · FREE TOOL

Serve the right language to the right people.

Add each language/region version of your page and get valid hreflang link tags (plus x-default) — so Google and AI show the correct version. Copy & paste into your <head>.

Language / region versions

Use codes like en, en-US, es-ES, fr-CA. Add an x-default fallback. Every page should list all versions including itself.

hreflang tags

Paste into the <head> of every language version (the set must be identical & reciprocal on each page).

How hreflang works

hreflang tags tell search engines which language and region each version of a page targets, so a French user gets your French page and a US user gets your US page. The rules: list all versions (including the current page) on every page, make the references reciprocal (each page points to the others), and add an x-default for everyone else. Getting this right prevents duplicate-content confusion and helps AI engines surface the correct version.

Free utility. Generates standard hreflang link tags from your input; validate large international setups with Google Search Console's International Targeting report.

FAQ

What is an hreflang tag?

It tells search engines the language/region a page targets (e.g. en-US, es-ES) so the right version is shown.

What's x-default?

The fallback for users who don't match any listed language/region — often a selector or your main version.
